The area of South East Colorado Springs real estate is located with Powers interchange on the south side, Milton E Proby Pkwy on the South side and Highway 21 on the East side of the area. An outstanding feature of this area would be Sand Creek runs thru some neighborhoods. Established in 1996, Sand Creek Elementary School was named for the creek that we are located near. It was built to support the new housing developments being built in the area. Originally, there was a grant with the city to include a Family Center within the school, and while that partnership has ended, the extra space in the school building has been beneficial as our school population continues to grow and grow. Sand Creek is a stream in El Paso County, Colorado and a tributary of Fountain Creek. The Sand Creek Trail cuts a diagonal path along the creek through commercial and residential areas of southeastern Colorado Springs. The trail begins about a half-mile southwest of Sierra High School and passes the school on its nearly 3-mile journey north. A trail spur by the school also offers an important connection to the YMCA/Southeast Family Center. On its northern end, the trail runs through Wildflower Park, which surrounds Wildflower Elementary School and offers athletic fields, a picnic pavilion and a playground. A new trail section of this trail has been completed and is open from the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail ( Adjacent to El Pomar Sports Complex) Northeast to Hancock Expressway. to Hancock Expressway.
